Why Do We Need a Great Commissioner?

The Economy:

Grays Harbor County is one of the most economically-depressed counties in the state.  Retail and fast food jobs can’t make up for massive job losses in timber, agriculture, and fishing over the past 46 years.

Income:   Grays Harbor County ... Is in the bottom 1/3 of state counties in median household income, 25% lower than state average

Employment:  Grays Harbor County .....  Has one of the five worst county unemployment rates in the state, at rates 50-100% higher than the rest of the country over the past year

FLASH:     Wednesday July 16, 2008, the Daily World in an article titled MORE IN ABERDEEN OUT OF WORK, reported that unemployment jumped in June 2008 to 8.2%

Taxes:  Grays Harbor County  .... Suffers the 5th highest total property tax rate in the state, more than 20% higher than the state average

Property Rights:

It’s easier than ever before for government to take your property through zoning, condemnation or excessive taxes.

This is not what I want in my county!

Open Government:

Government meetings should not take place behind closed doors, nor decisions made in staff meetings out of sight from the public.  Transparency is paramount.    Public comment should be allowed before the Commissioners make their decision.

Protection:

The first and foremost role of ANY government is to protect its citizens and their property.  A great Commissioner will make sure law enforcement has all the resources it needs to continue its outstanding job keeping our communities safe and illegally activity is not rewarded!

Do we have to live with status quo?   My election will be the

start of new discussions, new opinions, and new thoughts

to make a difference in Grays Harbor.”
